Pivot. The most hated word of 2020? JL Imagination virtual events were a pivot. They worked. I greatly missed photographing events last year. The challenges, the creativity, the talent and design. Oh I missed it! But along came virtual events and something for me to do. We are opening back up in California, yay! As a matter of fact, I attended my first in-person industry event yesterday in 14 months. It was glorious!
JL Imagination hosted a gala, a charity event and a space for creatives, Curated Entertainment, to work that I photographed. Now that we are open, will there be no more studio virtual events or perhaps hybrids? I certainly don’t have any clue. I just show up and photograph them. While there is just no comparison to in-person events (I hugged about 17 people yesterday) there could be a place for at least partial virtual events in the future.
JL Imagination virtual events may go on but if they don’t I am thankful that I had the opportunity to document a few events and work in a creative environment again while most of the world was on a long pause. Just look at the kids in these images. They were having a fantastic time and the laughs they got out of me were most welcome.
